HAZARDOUS IDENTIFICATION |
|
|
|
Silica Gel is synthetic amorphous silica not
to be confused with crystalline silica.
Epidemiological studies indicate low
potential from adverse heath effects.
Inhalation : Causes irritation to the
respiratory tract. Symptoms may include
coughing, shortness of breath.
Ingestion : May cause obstruction in
stomach, as it hardens with moisture.
Symptoms include stomach pain, distress.
Skin Contact : Causes irritation,
redness & pain
Eye Contact : Causes irritation,
redness & pain.
Chronic Exposure : Repeated Exposure
may cause symptoms similar to those listed
for acute effects. Synthetic amorphous
Silica does not produce Silicosis. |

FIRST AID MEASURES |
|
|
|
Inhalation : Remove to fresh air. If
not breathing, give artificial respiration.
If Breathing is difficult give oxygen. Get
medical attention.
Ingestion : Induce vomiting
immediately as directed by medical
personnel. Never give anything by mouth to
an unconscious person. Get medical
attention.
Skin Contact : Immediately flush skin
with plenty of water for atleast 15 minutes.
Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get
medical attention. Wash clothing before
reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse.
Eye Contact : Immediately flush eyes
with plenty of water for atleast 15 minutes.
Lifting lower and upper eyelids
occasionally. Get medical attention
immediately.
Note to Physician : Drinking
glycerin, gelatin solutions or large volumes
of water may delay the hardening in the
stomach. Surgical relief of obstruction,
particularly in the pylorus may be
necessary. |

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES |

Fire Extinguishing Media : Use any
suitable for extinguishing surrounding
media.
Unusual Fire & Explosive : Not
considered to be a Fire and an explosion
hazard.
In the event of a fire, wear full protective
clothing and self - contained apparatus with
full facepiece operated in the pressure
demand or other positive pressure mode. |

Spills : Sweep or vacuum the spill
area, avoid rising dust. Not known to have

can cause irritation of mucous membranes of

quick-drench facilities in work area. |

Phosphorous. Reacts with Hydrogen fluoride,
